Default 9200 cpu upgrade

Hi,

A friend has a 9200 with the 1.8 c2d cpu and wants to upgrade it.

I have 2 x 9200's, 1 with the 2.4 c2d and 1 with the 2.4 Quad Core and
so I'm assuming the cpu structure is the same?.

Would I be right in telling him that he can upgrade his c2d with a
Quad Core or are the motherboards slightly different?

Thanks in advance

The answer to your question is a definite "Maybe." If the motherboards in your
system have absolutely the same Dell part number and BIOS revision, the odds are
extremely good that a CPU upgrade will work. Any difference in part number or
BIOS revision indicates a potential difference in what the hardware is capable
of supporting. Also make sure that the cooling systems (fans, heat sinks, etc)
are identical between your systems and his... Ben Myers
