HDTV output question
Hi, I am looking to get a new card, like Leadtek 6600 GT. It has an
HDTV output. Currently I have a Radeon card that has an RCA composite video output which I find occasionally useful for sending the computer output to a VCR. I would like to have the same functionality with the new card. Is the HDTV output compatible with composite video or S-video inputs? thanks in advance |

Is the HDTV output compatible with composite video or S-video inputs? thanks in advance Neither composite or s-video can possibly give you an HDTV signal! You're in trouble if you planned on that. You first need a genuine HDTV with DVI or component input (red, green, and blue plugs, but labeled YPbPr or sometimes YCbCr) so you can get a progressive signal. Next you need a video card supporting HD resolutions (640x480, 720x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080, etc) and be sure to check the modes your TV supports. So the 6600GT will work fine. But without a DVI input on your set, you may need to use an external breakout box or dvi/vga-to-component adapter. They can be found most anywhere currently, just look around. Now for that VCR of yours, you don't need anything more than the built-in (if your card comes with TV-out) s-video connector. You can use a s-video to composite (yellow plug) adapter that normally comes with your card to hook it up via standard rca cables. The image will be pretty blurry compared to a monitor, so don't be surprised. |

HDTV output question
Sorry, maybe I didn't make it clear. I want to connect the HDTV output
plug from the 6600GT to the VCR input. I don't need HDTV signal. From browsing more I see some cards come with a cable that has HDTV plug on one end with composite and component on the other end. I hope the Leadtech I'm going to buy has this. |

I have the Leadtek 6600GT card and it came with a cable that does both
composite and SVideo. John W "Tippi" wrote in message ups.com... Sorry, maybe I didn't make it clear. I want to connect the HDTV output plug from the 6600GT to the VCR input.
