why doesn't my compaq boot from flopy?
compaq deskpro 2000 M5133/1080 GER
I want to install a new HDD, becouse the old one is broken. I think I had to install a new Partition on the knew HDD using the two created Disk's "F10 Setup and Personal Computer Diagnostics" SP4704, but the Comp didn't boot from the created disk. Another Floppy disk drive and a new cable didn't solve the problem. Can ther be another thing I had to do - Especially by Compaq? Hwo do I have to prepare the new HD (4GB)? 1. Cabel select 2. deleted old Win98/2000 partition's == unformated? thanks |

Are you sure the floppy is bootable? What error message do you get?

I wanted to test his memory with a diagnostic boot disk. Even with the floppy set as first boot device in the bios, it still would not boot to the floppy. It would just boot straight to windows. I thought it was just a fluke in his machine, but it seems like others have this problem also. I did manage to put the diagnistic on a cd rom and it was able to boot from that. Henry |
