Anyone know what this is on NewEgg?
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-444&depa=1 What caught my eye was the 1meg l2 cache and no heat spreader... If this is a pin for pin match to a 754 processor, it may be a real buy because of the larger cache. -- ************************************************** **************************** Registered Linux User Number 185956 FSF Associate Member number 2340 since 05/20/2004 Join me in chat at #linux-users on irc.freenode.net Buy an Xbox for $149.00, run linux on it and Microsoft loses $150.00! 12:13pm up 1 day, 23:41, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.01, 0.00 |

Unless you plan on overclocking this from 1.8 to 2.2, you'd be better off with the cheaper 3200+ (2.2GHz w/512K) IMO. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |

I don't think the mobil parts have a heat spreader on them. Anyone confirm? That's correct afaik, but subject to change as always.. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |

Yeah, but with half the cache? Hmm... Clock speed is way more important in this case. The extra cache will only improve performance in certain apps. The 3200+ at 2.2Ghz will outperform the 3000+ with the large cache at 1.8GHz by a large margin. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |
