Decrapifying Inspiron Dell
I don't know, but why not simply:
1. Uninstall whatever crap you do not want or need. 2. Run CCleaner to get the crap out of the registry and to get rid of the junk files. 3. Set the IE home page the way you want it. 4. Install the relevant Windows critical fixes, patches and band-aids. 5. Delete all restore points, which are pretty useless on a new machine that has just gone through the throes of a lot of software installs and deletes. .... It used to be known as DellDeCrapifier, and does what it says on the tin :-) The author finally widened the scope so it could be used on any PC (hence the rename) as a lot of the crap is generic across brands. |

Dell shipped my computer loaded with following Dell stuff that pcdecrapifier couldn't detect: * Browser address error redirector * Dell support center * Dell system customization wizard * Dell support All bove things pcdecrapifier couldn't detect. It detects only following two things: * Reset IE Home and Search Pages * Run registry entries What does "Browser address error redirector" do? Can I remove it safely? What do the following programs do? * Reset IE Home and Search Pages * Run registry entries I did google for "Run registry entries" but couldn't figure out if it is safe to remove this. Thanx/NSP |

Decrapifying Inspiron Dell
Dell shipped my computer loaded with following Dell stuff that
pcdecrapifier couldn't detect: * Browser address error redirector * Dell support center * Dell system customization wizard * Dell support In all fairness, some of those could be useful, rather than the usual clutter of trialware apps... All bove things pcdecrapifier couldn't detect. Not sure to be honest, but i've never heard of it buggering up a machine before - at a guess, there's a hook of some sort that will probably force you to MSN if it can't find the url you want. The registry entries will hunt for applications installed that it can remove at a guess. |
