Default AIW 9800, how to make the sound louder?

On my old AIW 8500, the sound from the TV used "Line-In" which was
seperate from the "wav" volume, so I could have reasonable TV while
still keeping my computer's bells and whistles volume at a discrete
level.

With my AIW 9800, the sound is linked to the "wav" volume, so to get
loud TV means the computer scares the 'bejesus' out of me when (for
example) I get new mail.

Is there any way to make the TV sound louder and the wav's softer, ie.
break the connection?

Cheers,
Steve
