Default ATI X600 hypermemory (E510 / Dim5150 desktop)

Has anyone got experience of using one of these hypermemory beasts
under linux ?

I'm debating replacing the gfx card in my Dim5150 desktop, but only as
a result of a problem in linux.

I'm seeing what I can only describe as a framebuffer issue which isn't
present under Windows, where the main menu for Half-Life and its'
variants flickers on top of the 3d game itself, killing gameplay.

Has anyone seen / had similar with a "hypermemory" card ?

Not being all that familiar with high end video on Linux, I can only
offer a guess...and it's probably something that you already
considered. Are you using an official ATI-provided driver? And if so,
is it the latest release?
