New life for the Packard Bell brand name
I did not know that Acer owns the Packard Bell brand name. The fact
escaped me. Seems like Acer has collected a lot of brand names: Gateway, eMachines and Packard Bell. Check the following URL for news about the reconstituted PB: http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...launches-line- I hope that someone at Acer is sane enough to realize that the only way to sell four brand names is to use the same basic hardware designs and to change the cosmetic plastic and the BIOS splash screen. Otherwise, repairs would be a nightmare. Oops! Repairs have always been a nightmare for these brands, due to the absence of readily available spare parts... Ben Myers |

New life for the Packard Bell brand name
Hi Ben !
Thanks for the news. Saw this when you posted it. As far as repairs being a nightmare, have to agree, except for the very late PB machines that used plain 'ol ATX stuff in ugly cases. Although the Milano uses full size ATX boards, PSU, etc., and is good looking...........I actually installed that later Intel PIII board in one, and can put in any new board I want for that matter. ( have returned it to factory PII ) bob "Ben Myers" wrote in message ... I did not know that Acer owns the Packard Bell brand name. The fact escaped me.
