Default Epson-can you take partially used cartridge......

.....from a printer, and install in another printer, same model? Will
this cause problems? Specifically, referring to Epson Stylus LX
5000/6000.

Are you sure you don't mean an Epson Stylus CX 5000. I think the LX
series were dot matrix printers.

But as a general question, with all modern Epson printers which have a
chip on the cartridge, you can remove them and place them in any printer
that uses that cartridge. They have a spring loaded valve to keep air
out and keeping the ink from drying. The ink level information is
stored in the chip which goes with the cartridge, so the other printer
will know how full the cartridge is.

What you can't do without issues, is leave the printer without a
cartridge in it, as the head will dry out and clog up. Also, with the C
and CX printers which use Durabrite ink, it doesn't take long for the
ink to clot and clog once a cartridge is removed. In some cases, it
takes a bit of extra help to get the ink going with the C and CX
printers. If you have a problem with that issue, email me as below for
information.
