Default Travelmate power problems and Acer Service experience

Just thought I'd share this as I couldn't find anyone else with the
same problem.

My Travelmate would only recognise mains power when it was switched
off. So, when using it on mains power, it would switch to batteries.
These would then gradually discharge so that I'd have to turn the
machine off, let the batteries recharge and then I could use it again
for a while.

Reported it to Acer who sent UPS round to collect it. Off it went to
Germany for repair. Received again from UPS in two days all fixed.

Good service.
