CPU Going Crazy
If this message has been previously posted, please excuse me. I've
been looking for an answer to this dilemma for a couple weeks now. I have a Compaq Presario 2700US notebook that I purchased in November of 2001. It has a 1.0 gig cpu,and 384 mb RAM. No new hardware. The problem is that the processor fan starts going full speed after a short time of the computer being on. If you do a ctrl-alt-del and go to taskmanager, it says that the "system" is using anywhere from 90%-95% of the CPU. I will get a blue screen not long after this that says "invalid_work_que_item" whatever the heck that means, and windows will now shut down. I have done a full system restore, thinking it was coruppted software of some sort, but the problem persists. I read on the net somewhere that there was a problem with the heat sink mounts for the CPU coming loose from the mother board and that compaq/Hp sells some sort of thermal solutions kit. At the time the guy posted that message the kit was 15 bucks, now they're 53. At any rate, I am rambling on, has anyone had this problem or heard of someone else that has had this problem, and found a solution. Thanks in advance for any help. John |
