Default cdrw issue?

Greetings all,

I am starting to setup my 530S, but have nioticed a strange problem wht I
try to use the CDRW.
On my old 2400 I was able to drag and drop files into the folder using
explorer or have an auto back up set up like in Quicken to save my file to
the RW disk.
I can not figure out what I am missing. I can not drag and drop, I can not
have the auto back-up from Quicken save to the disk.
I have earsed all files from the 2400 so it is clean, I cannot locate a
format for the disk.
So what did I miss.
Sorry for being so ignorant but I tried to search the web for help to no
avail.

Any leads to sites or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for yor help,
Dave

wasnt this discussed a week ago?
i think you're just missing the software that usually comes with these
systems,
like roxio "drop to disc"

Try right clicking the drive and check the Properties dialog box
Do you have "Enable CD recording on this drive" checked?

Yes and I still have not been able to get it to work, it seem sthat the dell
branded software is just a tease. I finally found a open source DVD burning
program that will take ant file convert and then burn for you, dvdflick.
I use to use roxio 5.xx and it used direct cd. I find nothin glike that here
with Roxio 10DE.

Are you running Vista or XP on the 530S? Sounds like Vista to me.

It also sounds like the Roxio package bundled recently with Dell boxes is
deficient. The Roxio bundled with Dell systems running XP had the necessary
add-ons allow the drag-and-drop and similar actions.

A word of caution about CD-RW disks. Yes, they are convenient in allowing
drag-and-drop once they are formatted. But they are none too popular because
they have the habit of failing at unexpected moments... Ben Myers

Running XP SP3

I agree Roxio package sucks, no DVD burning software and it seems no D&D.
From what I have been able to find the DE on the end stands for Dell
Edition, its a very stripped down version, I guess they want you to buy it
and let their greed get more money for them. Thats why i try to use open
source or shareware programs to the unmost, like my dvd burnign software
now, dvdflick.

Dave,

You've taken a page from my book. I still keep a copy of Nero Express on this
computer, but I use CDBurnerXP and ImgBurn for most DVD and CD burning. I have
never looked for a freeware/shareware drag-and-drop CDRW program, because I do
not use the CDRW blanks. I bet that one exists... Ben Myers

When you have done that, do the files appear (with pale icons) on the CD
drive?
If so, click on the 'Write these files to CD' command (either on the left
hand side of the explorer window, or right click the drive icon and select
the option from the context menu).
