I would say any photo capable Canon printer that takes the BCI-6 cartridges. Good luck finding a new one or even a used one for that matter. After that I would say a Canon printer using the CLI-8 cartridges and you refill them at home. |

You cannot refill these with ink that the printer was designed to take because nobody can bust Canon's patents. |

Which inkjet for cheap refillables?
Probably the easiest to refill, if you are looking for dye inks, as
opposed to pigments, is the Canon line. However, with the newer models you need to turn off the ink monitoring system and be cautious that the ink levels do not drop to empty, as the head can become damaged should you try to run it with an empty cartridge. Otherwise, you can still find a few sources for Epson style refillable cartridges from some 3rd party dealers. All of the Canon printers that use single color cartridges such as BCI-6, CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridges are good choices and they are easy to refill. A reasonably priced reset device is now available for the CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridges is now available. I can also supply excellent bulk inks for the Canon printers. If you are interested in details you can contact me at: I see that Measekite is still telling his old lies about afteremarket inks. I've read virtually every post regarding Canon printers on this Newsgroup for more than four years. The usual problems of clogged printheads occur with both OEM and non-OEM inks. I've replaced one printhead on my i960 in four an a half years after much heavy use - only using aftermarket inks. My ip5000 has never used Canon OEM inks and has had no problems in over two years. I've used inks from MIS and from Precision Colors. Precision Colors specifies that their inks are Image Specialist - a well known ink manufacturer that makes many types of inks, including inkjet printer inks. Measekite has an ip4000 Canon printer in which he has only used Canon OEM inks. In spite of his never having used aftermarket inks he posts negative information as if he has personal experience with these products. He has a pathological need to continually post these negative statements in spite of the fact that those of us who have had very positive results and no printer damage had tried to logically explain to him the errors in his statements. Apparently, he just enjoys provoking responses and his behavior is as a classic internet "troll". Most of us have him "kill filed" and never see his posts unless they are repeated in a response. |
