Default Canon S3000F of S5000F?

I am thinking of puchasing a canon S3000F scanner can anyone advise me if
this scanner OK for use on Windows XP. And also if it is wouth spending the
extra dollars and getting the S5000F. I want to use the scanner for general
home/ office use as well as scanning old slides and photos.
