No power light or boot starting with ATX switch. Reset starts it fine?
I would try the power supply first. I'm guessing it can't handle everything starting at
once anymore. Once the fans and drives are spinning, you press the reset button and there is just enough power left for the motherboard to react to the reset. -- Wayne Morgan "Some One" wrote in message . ca... Hey all! Weird problem that the wifes PC just started having... When you press the power button on the front of the PC, the fans all start spinning, but the power light does not come on and the PC does not boot. If you press the reset button, the power light comes on and the PC then boots. - There have been no changes to the PC - This happens whether the system has been off for twelve hours or running for twelve hours (cold or hot) - MSI K7T Turbo v3.0 with raid mainboard - Mid grade power supply - Matrox G550 video card driving two monitors - 1 Gig of PC133 SDRam (2 x 512Meg) - Two 40Gig Seagate hard drives on the RAID controller - CDRW and DVDRom - AMD XP2000+ processor - Latest BIOS - MS DSS80 USB speakers - Hauppage USB TV tuner I'm suspecting failing mainboard or power supply, but this sounds like "one of those things" that just happens for a while and will eventually go away (or break completely). Thanks! |
