Default Really baffled..

So I just built a new pc, I am upgrading from a Gateway q6600, that i
added a bit extra memory to, new psu and a gtx560 (which i bought about
3 weeks ago). Figured it was time to do a full upgraded, so I put
together this -

i5-2500k (stock speed)
P8P67 LE MB
8 GB corsair DDR 3 mem
Seagate 7200 1TB hd
CD drive from old system (dvd write/re-write)
GTX560
Coolermaster 750W PSU
Coolermaster case
win 7 64 bit

It was pretty smooth process it seemed, until I try to do something
such as play a game. It is a guarantee that it will just freeze
completely within a couple of minutes. I have the newest MB, GPU
drivers. Unless the GPU suddenly went bad, and i will test tonight by
swapping it into the old rig again and putting my old 260 into the new
one, I don't know whats going on. Mem checks out, I'm thinking its CPU
related, maybe heat? I run Prime95 and it will hang doing that as well.
I think I may just pop the cpu and take it back to the store and swap
for a new one. At this point I'm at my wits end. It is blazing fast for
normal windows operation/browsing etc.

Not sure what more I can do for troubleshooting other than actual part
swapping. I've checked device manager, no conflicts, bios all looks
good, mem test. I did download speedfan, not sure how accurate it is,
but it does depict cores getting hot, what is ideal core temps for an
i5? Case has good ventilation too. My old system, which was a much more
confining case, had the q6600, same card, that thing would throw off
more heat than this and it never once had an issue. Anything else to
check??

Well, that indicates a clear problem.
