Default The PC Market

So, it seems that opining about the upcoming fall of the PC is all the rage
today. Some cite Apple's success, others talk about HP's exit of the pc
market.

If it is true, the majority of people move to smart phones and tablets/IPads
for their computing needs then the PC supply chain would also be affected
(HDD, graphics cards, PS, etc.).

Thoughts on what the market will be like in 3 to 5 years?

I don't know. To me an iPhone or iPad is not an adequate substitute
for a pc.

I recall what it was like to work on IBMs PCs before they got out of
the market. What's strange to imagine is if there weren't a Singapore
market for computer assemblies. It would be like being permanently in
some time warp with only a 8Mhz NEC V20 to task swap AST EMS 2.0,
while Intel kept the 286 and 386SX market artificially inflated for at
least eons, and AMD or Cyrix, Texas Instruments and Motorola, were all
just imaginary figments of an evolutionary sidetrack stuck, like
sticks in the mud.
