Default dual boot os problem

hi all
somedays back i installed both Win98 and win2000 on my PC.
(40 GB harddisk)..
but there arouse some problem in win98 and i reformatted only that
part (c drive only) keeping the win2000 untouched.
now the problem is the bios only recognizes only one os on my machine
and that is the recently installed win98.
to resolve this problem i then made the D: drive active on which win
2000 is loaded.but now it says insert disk failure..
i.e it ignorest he winows 2000.though i can acceess the win2000 data
from win98.
i know this might have happened due to deletion of the mbr when i
formatted c drive.
but i also think that this situation is very common and hence there
must be some solution to this problem..(i.e how to inform the bios
that there are two os on my pc..ie. editing the mbr..(i tried fdisk
/mbr aslo but then alos it only recognizes win98 and ignores win
2000))..

thanking you,

regds,

Since you installed Win98 after Windows 2000, Win98 installed its own
boot files which overwrote Win2k's files. Solution: re-install
Windows 2000 to the D: drive and leave the Win98 installation alone.
Windows 2000 Setup should recognize the Win98 installation, create the
necessary Win2000 boot files on the boot drive, and give you the
option of either booting Windows 98 or Windows 2000 at boot time.
Good luck.

On a dual boot system, if you lose the primary (C drive), then you lose
access to any other OS's, because the C's MBR and it's references to the
other OS's are corrupted/gone. Sorry.
