Sounds like you need to enable DMA.

Drives were defragged very recently. DMA is not enabled on the

Make sure DMA is enabled in the bios and the drives show as DMA drives in
post. And no, there is no downside to DMA and gives a big performance
boost.

Again, many thanks. On the post I see primary and slave as UDMA. Is
that it? Can't seem to find anything in BIOS about enabling DMA. I've
enabled DMA through Device Manager. When recording from now on, I'll
just leave the machine alone so as not to tax the processor.
