It sounds like your video driver is corrupt.

All of a sudden the vidio card seemed to quit on me. Using a Gigabyte board
and AGP 64 meg card with a P4 1.6 gb processor. When I start the computer
the vidio seems fine . As soon as Windows starts to boot , the screen will
go blank and stay that way . Tried another hard drive and it seemed to do
the same thing. Hope that ruled out a virus.

Install any new software?
I know that "Go Back Deluxe" will cause a black screen at boot up on
my Gigabyte 8KNXP board... it is a know issue posted on Symantecs web
site regarding Go Back Deluxe...
