Default sansurfer / windows 2003 / cisco 9509 / LSI D280 problems.

Hi all

Got a strange thing occuring on a few windows 2003 machines we have
attached to our san. Servers are san attached with 2 qla2300 HBAs to
two independant fabrics. We have a vsan + zoning config on each san
that brings the HBAs and array ports together. Storage is Storagetek
d280. We use RDAC for multipathing.

We run up a qlogic utility called sansurfer to check what the HBA can
see. All HBAs flashed yellow after a couple of minutes. We then get
a pop up dialog asking 'configation change - would you like to refresh
the configuration for host :xxxxx yes/no'

Click yes and then it clears and sometimes comes back.

Click no and it stays yellow.

Force a refresh and accept; it refreshes the GUI and after a minute or
so causes the HBAs to flash again.

and we find that the logs are full of 'status change' messages that
occur every few minutes.

This is giving us real grief as the machines seem to lock up and drop
ip packets during all of the above. Happened on mutiple servers but
not all servers.

Spoke to STK and Qlogic - no-one has a clue !
