How do you change the waste ink pad on an Epson R1800 Printer?
And where do you get pads from?

Default How to change waste ink pad on Epson R1800?

This just came up in another post, so I am repeating the info for thsi
thread as well.

For the R1800, one can either get the software from Epson is your unit
is a North American Serial Number at:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...nkPadsForm.jsp

Or possibly the SSC software will work.

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Pad replacement is somewhat of a hassle, both in terms of finding
replacement pads and dismantling your printer. A usually better
solution is to reset the waste ink monitor and to extend the waste ink
tube(s) outside of the printer and into a bottle.

For more details in this regard check out the following links as
examples of some ways to do this:

Usually, Epson printers are rather conservative with their waste ink
protection numbers and they indicate full waste ink pads long before
they are full. Typically, one can reset this number once before
worrying about the waste pad ink overflowing. However, as a precaution I
suggest placing the printer on some newspaper with plastic sheeting
below it, or in a tray, just in case the pads do become over-saturated.

The best solution is to bring the waste ink tube(s) external to the
printer and use a small bottle for the waste ink to be stored in.

It is true that replacing the pads can be really messy, and is best
avoided if possible,
