Default Ebuyer - can't login to buy - Catch22 conundrum

Despite having heard such mixed feedback on these for some while, they're
£40 cheaper than anyone else on an item I want. I guess it's like
roulette, if they deliver, and no issues with product during guarantee I
should be OK.

Anyway, went to order, click on "Buy" and it wants me to login. I know my
old username and password, but as last order was a couple of years ago I
can't recall which email address I used, and none I try are accepted. So I
go to login re-advise, and it wants various details, including last 8 digits
of credit card used last. Again, not sure what that is. No worry, as I
think I can re-register. But their registration process tries to be clever,
tells me a family member of previous resident has already registered at this
address, and that I can't without contacting them "via the link below".
BUT that link wants me to login to send an eNote !

A google search for phone numbers showed some, but message on that says they
no longer asnwer phone calls. If I register a different address
variation, I'll fail the credit card check, and not have the right
guarantee, so I seem well and truly stuck, and in the meanwhile the item I
want is heading for a sell out.

This is damned annoying, but maybe someone is telling me something. If I
can't even place an order, what'll happen after my order?!!

Managed to sort out, but only from rummaging through old receipts and
finding the credit card number I used 30 months ago. Should be easier
than this though!

Now I just have to decide whether to take the plunge and order....!

If my experience is anything to go by DON'T deal with this bunch of cowboys.

I've been attempting to get them to contact me for over 2 weeks now as they
have still to send me the item despite their system telling me it was sent
over 3 weeks ago. Even a recorded delivery letter, which they have finally
accepted (according to the Royal Mail track & trace), has failed to elicit a
response from the *******.

They've taken the money from my credit card and not sent the goods. To me
that constitutes fraud and theft.

But what constitutes fraud and theft to you doesn't matter a ****.

Unfortunately Stephen, Ebuyer wont just take your word that you never
received your goods - they have a parcel consignment number that they
helpfully sent you. There are members of the general public who
regularly try to con mail order firms you know.

Your tone here in several posts suggests exactly why ebuyer keep simply
deleting your enotes.

I hope your letter is somewhat more reasonably stated.

You see, I've held back for a while, but it seems that even them now
'accepting your recorded delivery letter' is irking you so I thought I'd
wade in with the truth.

They have a consignment number.
Royal mail say that they have no record.
Have you complained in equally voiciferous terms to Royal Mail?
I would bet my mortgage you haven't. Royal Mail aren't squeaky clean you
know, just check their own stats on how many parcels they 'lose' each day.

Let ebuyer investigate what happened - be polite, be positive, make sure
you do the same with Royal Mail and I'm sure you'll get a satisfactory
result - unfortunately, like all the other whingers, its unlikely you'll
post the outcome here.

Keep on to the credit card company too, but refrain from the vacuous
allegations of fraud and theft - a company the size of ebuyer have no
need to defraud nobodies like you out of paltry sums.

I'm sorry but even if Ebuyer are investigating this why haven't they had the
common decency to reply to me telling me this? I've even given them my email
address and telephone number to enable them to easily reply to me but they
haven't as yet done so despite it being 2 weeks since the initial contact.
There is no excuse at all for not contacting me.

Agreed that Royal Mail aren't perfect by any means but they book parcels in
from the source so Ebuyer should be able to provide proof of this. If Ebuyer
don't believe me then why don't they provide me with proof of my signature
on delivery of the item? The truth on the latter is that they clearly won't
be able to do this as it's never been sent out to me. If they had I'm sure
they'd have quickly come back to me before now refuting the claims I've
made.

Why am I mad? I think that should be pretty obvious. I was being polite with
them but when they don't even have the common decency to reply, ignoring all
attempts to contact them, then I get annoyed. And no I haven't, as yet, been
offensive in my attempted contact with them although it's getting more
strongly worded each time.

The solution for them is quite simple. They can find out in a matter of
minutes, or an hour at the most, if the item has been delivered to me so
then actually send me the item I've paid for within the same day of the
enquiry. These days with electronic systems this is possible and there's no
excuse for not doing so.

When the credit card issuer asked the name of the company and I mentioned
Ebuyer, I heard the operator mumble "not again". To me that would suggest
I'm not the first to report this sort of incident to them involving Ebuyer.

Agreed. If you had this much hassle trying to register, imagine the
hassle if you have to return something...
