Default Dell 1110 printer: paper stops after about 2 inches.

Everything is perfect if I gently push the paper inside the printer at the
very moment where it is about to stop.

Is there a sensor at this very position of the paper and could it be clogged
by dust or dirt? Opening and closing the top cover won't help.

Regards,
