In article , "deejay" says... snip I also believe that people should be made aware of attitudes like this so as to have the right not to shop there, whether they are cheap or not (which they aren't) is not the right attitude to have, which is why I boycott McDonalds, Coca Cola-Schweppes, Marks And Spencers, Gap, Nike, Seimens (used slave labour from Jews in 2nd World War) etc etc etc. Where's IBM in your list? Can't afford IBM anyway so didn't bother to mention it |

Anybody else have views on this? Nowhere in the post you refer to does Spie make any racist comment. Whilst your quote is taken, I assume, from the website the flash originated from, and looks to be the workings of someone who, to put it mildly, doesn't play well with others, your assumption seems to be that because Spie posted a link to a flash animation on that site, then he 'obviously' fully supports, agrees and endorses the sites views. This assumption is a dangerous one to make, as being concerned about the number of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants coming into this country doesn't make you racist, it makes you a citizen concerned about the state and welfare of the country as a whole. |

... I think it's fair to say the jewish, quaker and romany germans weren't big on him. Actually, there was a large Jewish support for Hitler. Many people make the mistake of believing that Hitler was the architect of the Final Solution. In actual fact, as with everything, it was a combination of events that led to the institution of the Final Solution. Largely distanced from reality and as his injuries (gained during the 1st World War) as well as the stress of having to be seen to be leading took their toll upon him, his cabinet (selected by him for their similar views) began to press for further and more extreme measures. The problem there was that there was no opposition within the cabinet and no real constraints. Add to that the facts that (like today) the economic situation was grim (the depression had started only a few years earlier) for which the government was looking for people to blame (pretty much as the Tories and then Labour blamed the unemployed and then single mothers for the countries woes) and the fact that worldwide Jews, gypsies etc had very much fallen from favour and it's possible to see a swing on the part of society not just in Germany but internationally - against Jews and gypsies. All this combined and centred most notably in Berlin. But don't make the mistake of thinking that it was only a Nazi thing. The American and British governments were pretty anti-semitic at the tme too. They neatly buried that and erased a lot from the pages of history in their attempt to look whiter than white after the war. Place a group of people who believe mildly in something together, give them power and distance them from society. Eventually the beliefs take over and get more extreme. This was shown quite adequately when a US college professor separated a group of students into prisoners and guards. The guards became viscious and the prisoners suffered. This is an inherant trait in people - not a specific person or a specific group. -- Yours Zebedee (Claiming asylum in an attempt to escape paying his debts to Dougal and Florence) |
