It's been known for decades.

Indeed, it's similar to the scenario on communications satellites when
the charged solar wind builds up a static charge on the surface of the
satellite which results in some of the on-board electronics switching
off or on when it arcs over. A right pain in the butt that has been
known since the early days of satellites (40+ years)!

Hello,

Meeeee, Skybuck, has possibly discovered a new problem with air cooling
for electronics:

Static electricty could build up... because the wind is rubbing it's
electrons against the materials, like plastics and so on.

Static electricty could build up at which at a certain point it might jump
over to electronics and cause damage ?!?

Some links explaining how static electricity works:

Is this a known problem with air cooling for electronics, or has Skybuck
discovered a new problem/limitation to air cooling electronics ? !
WOOOOHHHHHHH Mind blowing nice =D

Bye,
Skybuck

What you want to do is get yourself a room humidifier. Then direct the
steam right into the air intake on your PC or whatever it is you're
trying to air cool. That'll keep those pesky electrons under control.
Hint: Salt water works best!

But many of us tell him what to do to fix a problem and he does the exact 180
of what he was told. then goes on for months about strange theories and ****.

You obviously are new to this NG, as the troll, apt term, look it up,
has been posting ridiculous questions and hypotheses for years.

Thankfully, he hadn't been around for quite a while, but unfortunately
he's back and people fall right into the trap.

Someone whom is really interested in having questions answered doesn't
cross post to 8 or 9 news groups, many of which have nothing to do with
the subject at hand.

Wise up.

Whatever man Ive been around for awhile and Ive seen plenty of Skybucks
ideas which like I said if you dont like his questions dont answer them. Now
isnt there some way to block his posts? Do it for yourself on your pc and
stop complaining.

He's been in the plonked file for a long time. But, I can't block the
myriad of answers from others not wise enough to know they're feeding a
troll. Get a clue.

Or use an AC ionizer.

What he rally needs to do is repalce all the electrolytics on the
motherboard with blasting caps, and blow the damaged pice of junk to
hell, where it belongs. With any luck, it will bring down the whole
house, too.
