Laserjet 6L fuser error

Hi all,

I have a Laserjet 6L (C3990A 120V) that gives out a fuser error (top and
bottom LED lights up after pressing the front button when all LEDs light
up). I took the printer apart and measured the fuser resistance. I got
~355 kOhm and ~26 Ohm on each end. Are the values within range? I tried
HP's forum but didn't get any answers from there regarding the values.
The fuser sleeve looks OK.

BTW, the printer has a new cartridge. I hope it's not the controller
board.

Replace the heating element on the fuser.

Frank,

You mean replace the whole fuser unit since the fuser is one assembly? I
doubt if anyone sells just the ceramic strip. Based on the markings on
the strip, it was made my Rohm. BTW what is the normal value for the
heating element?

Well, technically the fuser is one assembly, but the preasure roller,
the heating element and the teflon sleeve can all be purchased
seperatly. You should be able to get just the heating element. As you
live in Canada, perhaps BC or Alberta, try Pieces Express out of
Quebec for parts. Not sure what the normal values are.
