Default OT-- Windows Explorer question

I have XP Home. (Dell Inspiron 2200)

When I'm in Windows Explorer and click on a folder in the left pane, the
contents of the folder , which appear in the right pane, seem to be listed
haphhazardly. Is there any way to specify that they be in alphabetical
order??

Mel

At the top of the columns on the right side, you can click on which ever one
you want to sort by. Clicking on the 'Name' at the top of the column will
sort it alphabetically.

Default OT-- Windows Explorer question

when you are in 'detail view' (select view-detail from the drop down menu)
you will see column heading in the right pane. if you look closely at the
column heading you will see that one have a tiny triangle, or carrot, point
up or down. the carrot is indicating the column which the information is
current sorted by. the direction of the carrot indicates if it is in
ascending or descending order. you can click on any column heading to sort
the list by that column. if you click the same column again you get the
reverse sort for that column (switches from ascending to descending order or
vice-versa). once sorted you can return to the view that you prefer (if it
is not detail view) by select from the drop down menu 'view' followed by
your display of choice.

let me try that again, in english this time....

when you are in 'detail view' (select view-detail from the drop down menu)
you will see column headings in the right pane. if you look closely at the
column headings you will see that one has a tiny triangle, or carrot, next
to the title. this carrot indicates the column which the list is currently
sorted by. this carrot will either be pointing up or down indicating if the
column is sorted in ascending or descending order. you can click on any
column heading to sort the list by that column. if you click the same
column again you get the reverse sort for that column (switches from
ascending to descending order or vice-versa). once sorted, you can return
to the view that you prefer (if it is not detail view) by selecting 'view'
from the drop down menu followed by your display method of choice.
