Default Acer 3610 usb,elp

Whith reference to the above I upgraded my acer notebook from XP Home to XP prof and now my usb ports wont work. They dont recognise any usp connection . According to device manager all are ok and should be working properly. Acer are no help as they informed me that they cant help as I have changed my operating system. anyone got any idea???
