Any Way To Reset RADEON 9800 Pro Hardware To Defaults?
Is there any way to hard-reset the RADEON 9800 Pro hardware back to its
factory configuration? For example, is there a jumper I can place on it, or take off, that would reset its internal programming? I've got a situation (see thread "Bug in Catalyst 4.8 Renders W2K System Unusable") where I think the drivers may have been put in a previously untested condition, and somehow they programmed the hardware in a way that the software cannot reset. I want to guarantee that the hardware is back to its original factory condition before proceeding further. -- Will westes AT earthbroadcast.com |

Unless you have flashed the firmware all you should need to do is uninstall
the driver and reboot, if that fails then get a basic card and use that to boot then go back to the new card. I've read various accounts of how people - typically people overclocking -
can get the card into some mode from which it behaves differently regardless of the driver configuration. I'm just trying to understand if there are any configuration values held on the card itself that can be reinitialized on the hardware indepdent of the software configuration. I know how to rebuild everything from scratch, and what I am experiencing is different behavior of the card regardless of software configuration. -- Will westes AT earthbroadcast.com "CHANGE USERNAME TO westes" wrote in message news Is there any way to hard-reset the RADEON 9800 Pro hardware back to its factory configuration? If you have another machine available you might try it in that one. If all
is well it is probably software - if not you may well have fried the card. I guess if this is the case you might try re-flashing the cards BIOS as you really would not have that much left to lose! That is the only "setting" I am aware of that effects the hardware operation. FWIW, Len "CHANGE USERNAME TO westes" wrote in message ... Where on the ATI web site do they keep the latest BIOS for the retail ATI
