Default How to prevent: "JPEG marker segment lengths too short or truncated"

A friend has burned all his valuable images to a CD-RW disk. Now can
only read part of them. When trying to access the others, he gets the
message:

JPEG marker segment lengths too short or truncated......

How can one prevent this from occurring in the future.

Thanks.

Don't use packet formatting (Direct CD/InCD etc) and don't use CDRW discs.
Save the files in multisession ISO format to CDR.

Which Windows?
What burn software (and its version number) was used?
What's the jpeg viewer?

WinXP (Home, I believe)

Nero, don't know the version........he's not available today to ask.

If you mean what program did he use to try to see the image, he used a
number of them from PhotoShop Elements to the builtin viewer on his
computer.

Use quality cd-rw like Verbatim DataLifePlus and avoid Memorex. Also
remember that the archival life of cd-rw is about less than half that of
cd-r, according to the disc manufacturers.

Write in Mode 1 (in the ISO tab).
Check the "Verify" option in the Write CD window.

Disable winxp burn function:
(XP Home)
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Services, and
double-click "IMAPI CD Burning", click Stop, then set "Startup type" as
"Disabled".
