Gigabyte 8KNXP motherboard makes the built-in speaker continuously buzz
I have just built a PC with the following new hardwa
Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Motherboard Kingston 1GB 400MHZ DDR RAM Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz 800FSB SKT478 512K cache CPU Maxtor 120GB SATA Hard Drive GeForce FX5200 AGP8x 256MB Graphics LITEON 52x24x52 CD-R LG 16x48 IDe DVD-ROM Sony floppy The PC has Windows XP Professional installed on it, everything works fine and the system boots up with no problems. The only problem I have is a constant buzzing sound coming from the built-in speaker that is inside the PC's case. The buzzing sound starts as soon as the PC is switched on and does not stop. I have removed each piece of hardware that is possible to try and diagnose why this is happening but cannot cure the problem. Can anyone give any reason why the problem should occur accept for that the motherboard is faulty which is what I have already been told. Thanks. Phil. |

Have you tried to flip the connecting wire around, the one that leads from the speaker to the motherboard to the motherboard? Maybe the polarity is switched. I've already tried that but it did't change the output. well u can go to bios to diable the sound on the mb. if still cannot then... ok then start from the beginning disconnect everything except the motherboard's cpu fan . well if the sound continues suspect the mb got problem... rgds, |

Try disabling the onboard speaker in the BIOS. |

I have removed each piece of hardware that is possible to try There is a very good chance that the regulation and / or filtering in the power supply is either failing or below industry standards. In this situation I would try replacing the power supply with a unit from a good manufacturer. Antec is a good choice; others in this newsgroup have also spoken highly of 'Sparkle' brand power supplies. - -- Ron n1zhi -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAjE/Ta9fyRcf4bIYRAn7pAJ9L/do+Sca/R70o1FSeZRlS0Jp8oQCgi3v5 laMeh5mxubg7A2OJFBJ1DsA= =RhTq -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
