Dell Laptop slowing down
Why not just swap the disks? That way you'll establish if it's software or hardware issue. If the BIOS settings are identical and the performance doesn't swap along with the disks, then it must be hardware letting you down. If the disk from the fast one speeds up the slow one, it's obviously software or disk hardware. You could then try Ghosting the fast disk onto the slow one, and take it from there. "winuser" wrote in message ... yes they are exactly the same computers: the same model and the same specs. of course different people use them and the software installed is slightly different on each one. Os is the same though. "Al Dykes" wrote in message ... In article , winuser wrote: I've purhcased 2 Dell Inspirons with following specs: 1.7 Ghz processor 256 mb of RAM 20 Gb harddrive running windows XP one of those dells is much faster than the other even though both are the same as far as specs are concerned. The one that works slower I tried Specs don't mean much, are they they same model # ? tweaking. I've deleted all the unnecessary files, defragmented the HD, deleted all the spyware that was on it, checked for viruses. Sill its slower thant he other laptop and harddrive thrashes noticeably more than on the other computer. I've checked the list of processes and the processor is 99% free. So I am at loss as to what the problem might be. Any one has any suggestions as to what I should try to possibly fix this problem. -- Al Dykes ----------- |
