Default EM64T

I had a query abut the Compaq 1729 (based on a D920 processor), that I
sent them (i.e. HP)(having read Intel's comment "To take advantage of
Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology, an entire 64bit hardware and
software solution stack is required.")

"Can you confirm that system has Intel EM64T-enabled BIOS and that it is
fully EM64T compatible."

HP replied:

"Unfortunately, the sr1729 is not 64-bit compatible as it is using an
Intel Dual Core processor. Apologies for any inconvinience this may cause."

Am I going mad or are they?

Surely...

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/rese...rts/216413.htm

says it all,

(particularly note 5 - This processor supports Intel® Extended Memory 64
Technology (Intel® EM64T) )

.....doesn't it?

Someone grabbed a stock answer and waited for you to go away. I would
resubmit the question noting that Intel spec says the CPU is EM64T.
