Cleaning Canon MP190 Ink Absorber?
Anyone ever done this and could give me some tips. All the online info I can find does not apply to this model. A couple of youtube videos are poorly done and impossible to follow. A decent step-by-step procedure or at least an exploded diagram showing how to access the absorber would be helpful.
Thanks in advance. |

I can't help with your model, but a few years ago I was faced with the same problem with a Canon 9000S. Fortunately I found some on-line instructions. In case they also apply to yours, the essence was to find a series of 'clips' that held the upper body case to the lower part with all the works in. When these were released it was a matter of removing a few screws that held the circuit board to the base. The absorber lay below this. Very messy, but able to be cleaned in running water for an hour or so. Dry and replace. Fiddly - the most difficult job was having the confidence to release the clips. (needless to say - remove from the mains before starting!!!) Best of luck Mike -- Michael J Davis |

I had to buy a replacement printer (MP490) - not easy to find one in good shape for Windows 2000. MP490 is fine but a month into use, it already have given me trouble. I refilled the black cartridge properly, but the printer started streaking. Ended up having to buy another new cartridge. This is the reason I'm looking back at the MP190. If I can get MP190 running again, the MP490 is going back on Craigs List. |
