Best drivers for GeForce4 MX440

Hello.. have replaced TNT2 with GF4 MX440. Not the greatest but it
doubled memory to 64MB. Platform is dual 500MHz Xeon which still runs
great and is very robust.. but not a speedster.

So.. what's the best drivers for GF4 in the FS2002 (Flight Sim)
environment? Have had a LOT of success with 44.03 driver.. and
newer drivers may not help situation.

I seem to get `slower' frame rates.. but have noticed MORE of a
scene.. and less Regen from lack of textures when switching views.

Ok.. how many `frames ahead' should it be set for?

Just get the latest cause I think you won't any vast difference between any
of the old and newer drivers.

the 61.77 are just fine for this card....

After hours of driver installation and adjusting.. have determined
that the 64MB GF4 is `too big of an aperture' for the 500MHz Xeons..
so I pulled it and went back to the 32MB TNT2. Here's what happened..
with the Flight Sim.. I take off from an airport and pull up until
speed slows to almost constant and switch to `outside active camera'
view.. which means watching the Boeing climb out of the airport from
5000 ft away and 250 ft above intercept point.

With the GF4.. the framerate dropped to around 8fps while looking back
at the field. It needs to be 15-17 fps for a reasonable picture. At
least with the TNT2 the framerate was 12-15 for takeoff.

Here's my conclusion.. the 64MB card was too much LOAD on the CPU's
for such a demanding task.. especially with hi-res terrain mesh and
textures. It was `too much aperture' and bogged the processors.

So the moral of the story is.. DONT provide such a video load
(advanced card) such that you game suffers framerate hit. It's best to
match equivalent hardware.

I was already wondering that u were able to "fly" at all! - those 64MB on
the MX440 has a 128 bit vram bus - your CPU just cant deliver. Once u have
a cpu clock 1500 Mhz things will look much betta. I am running this card
here at 1024x768 in 32bit colour and Far Cry, UT2004 etc all plays
absolutely smooth in high detail. Get a life and buy something decent and
recent! :-)
