Default Doing a clean install/reformatting main hard drive

Dear folks,
I want to give my Dell to my brother and wants to erase everything and re
install windows on this machine so he can receive the computer just like
new.How do I do it?

What version of Windows? If it's XP or Win2K just pop the CD into the
drive, set the BIOS to boot to the CD and then follow the instructions.

Detailed instructions for reinstalling all your computer's software are
found in the technical support section of the Dell web site.

Do you really need to reinstall everything from scratch? It'll take up most
of a weekend - unless you run into problems along the way. Why not just
erase all your personal files and hand over the computer? It's for your
brother, after all.

what model? what operating system? some models have a complete 'factory'
software image on the hard disk that is restored with one command...
