Default £100 laserjet or £80 inkjet?

I want to get a printer.
Can someone tell me if I am better off getting a =A3100 laserjet or an
=A380 inkjet?

What would be the comapritive printing costs of each?

Thanks.

A =A3100 laserjet might not be the most economical per page but odds
are it'll be more so than a =A380 inkjet.

Take the Brother HL 2030 for example. tn-2000 I believe =A340/2500pg or
1=2E6p/page

-classic popular inkjet cartridges-
Canon bci-3eBK =A39/500pg =3D 1.8p/page
HP #45 large =A320/833 =3D 2.4p/page

So as far as cost goes, looks like the brother actually costs less per
page than two of the cheaper ink cartridges on the market. There are
more economical lasers, but not typicaly new for under 100 quid.

But as far as what's a good choice for you, without knowing what your
application is it's hard to say.

That depends: what kind of job would your new printer be doing mostly?
If it's nearly all B&W like bullitin notes, mailing forms, etc, then
the laser printer would be better since it's cheaper per page with
toner than with ink.

If there's going to require some color, especially photo printing, ink
jet is generally better for this.

If you get a b&w laser get a refillable one, as an idea have a
look at -:

http://www.refilltoner.com/index.htm this will give you an idea what
is easy to refill etc. I got A Samsung ML1510 for £54 inc. del.
& 12 months warranty from Dabbs computers in Bolton (UK).

The toner assembley is arounf £60, I got 3 refill bottles for £12 to
date I have only used one of them, you can refill as long as the Drum
is OK, these printers the toner unit contain the drum.

The alternative is either a Canon ip4000 or ip5000, they use
non-chipped tanks and they are clear as well as being easy to refill.
they use 2 blacks a large pigment for text and a smaller dye photo
back.

The ip5000 has not clogged or wanted a manual nozzle clean since I
bought it over 4 months ago..! The text is as good as the laser.
