Default GPU core clocks and data xfer rate

Can modern GPU's xfer a single double-word per GPU clock off of the AGP (and
into the GPU)? If that's the case it would seem like 8x AGP would have a lot
of unused bandwidth right? Can 8x AGP actually xfer ~2132 Million bytes/sec
(~533 Mhz x 4 bytes of data)?
