Upgraded to Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 - BIG MISTAKE

I just recently bought a new Plextor 712A DVD burner, and it came
bundled with ROXIO Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. Well, I had Easy CD
creator 5 Platinum installed on my XP system already and it was
working decently. But since I now needed DVD burning software, I
installed it assuming it would leave the Version 5 software that I
already had on my hard drive alone. I WAS WRONG! Not only did it get
rid of "Spin Doctor" (which I use for cassette/vinyl to CD
conversion), but it wouldn't let me convert my CD tracks to mp3! I
just found out yesterday from www.roxio.com that I had to register the
software to get the "MP3 PLUG-IN" for the new "Creator Classic", but
the best decoding quality is 128 kbps--it's useless!

So I can't do a System Restore because the files are gone, and I can't
reinstall Version 5 and get back SpinDoctor and the old Creator,
because the old disc that I have is not WinXP compatible! I'm so
angry.

Anyone else have this problem???

I'm going to try to contact Roxio, but I guarantee that they won't let
me revert to Version 5. Grrrr. Not happy at all.

Who are you not happy with? Since when does a newer version allow you
to keep the older version in tact? You should have expected this.
Version 5 is compatable with XP. Why can't you just install it? Sounds
like you are unhappy because you had unrealistic expectations. When you
buy a drive and it comes with software expect that software to be a lite
version. If you need full functionality then expect to buy the upgrade.
If you need something that is not there in the lite version then buy the
upgrade.

Does anyone else have this problem? Only the uninformed. You need
someone to blame check the guy between the back of the chair and the
keyboard. You.

You should have upgraded to EMC 7.

rejects other sampling rates and bitrates. I did not try all of the
options, but my negative and positive results were confirmed by Adaptec:
it works with 128 ksps and redbook.

This automatic MP3-to-WAV in EZCD Creator 4.0 is an absolutely
*useless* feature then if it only works with MP3s encoded at 128kbits.

Roxio has been a joke for awhile when it comes to backwards compatability.
I had dozens of CD cover projects saved with one version of easy CD, only to
find they switched formats with the next version and all my laborously built
up cd cover collection was pretty much toast.

One question - You said v.5 was already installed - Pre installed ?
Why is the 'old disc' not compatable, yet you had it on your system ?

the term "backward compatibility" means. They should have stayed in
