Default Help on Hp G62 for video issue...

Hi, i have a Hp G62 notebook since 2010 with Win7 installed but
lately the screen shows sometimes some lines and sometimes
switchs off the screen even the system is working...
Sometimes appears the blue screen with some errors about video card.
Now i have scanned for possibly malwares but now i think that is
cleaned.
What do you think?
Is hardware or software issue?
Need i format the system to exclude if is a software/driver issue?
If is a hardware issue how can i solve it?
Can you help me?

This sounds like more than one hardware issue.

1) "Lines" on the screen, can be a failure of a driver in the
LCD panel hardware. Typically vertical lines of one color show
up. If the lines are of other description than that, they could be
caused by a failing GPU.

2) "Screen switches off" could be the power source (inverter)
for the CCFL backlight. The inverter board is a narrow strip.
If the screen is brownish (off-color), that could be the CCFL
itself which is worn out, but your laptop isn't old enough for
that to have happened. So it could be an inverter board.

3) "Errors about video card", could be a GPU problem as well.

A common element to all hardware problems, is internal power
distribution. The battery provides a relatively high voltage
(maybe 14V or so), and switching regulator circuits make power
for other systems inside the laptop. But it's unlikely though,
for the inverter to be switching off because of that, because
other things would likely quit first.

The nearest single problem, is GPU failure. But the GPU may
be integrated into the processor, so it's not like in previous
generations, where an NVidia GPU had a cracked solder ball. I've
never heard of a GPU failing, of the type that is inside
the processor itself. It could be, that even re-seating
the processor in the processor socket, may be enough to temporarily
fix it.

So the symptoms are very puzzling.

Amazing how so often, one offers advice, to a problem that is obviously a BIG
issue, and never hears a response.

Oh Well.

A small number of these questions, come from people
repairing computers for a living. In which case, they're
on to the next computer by now.

Thank you both for precious info but the notebook issued is not
mine but of friend of my friend...and is located about 200 Km by
me.
Paul has given many importants and detailed info. I had to wait
their response on issue. Meanwhile i searched on web a possible
fix and most accredited fix i think that could be upgrading the
video driver downloading from Hp website.
The lines were horizontal and only for one time were shown.
But in another case the system gave us a precise message about
driver failure.
Then i think that issue could concern the video driver.
But now the owner has thought to take the notebook at another his
friend for repairing.
Anyway i'll ask him how he will have possibly fixed even the issue.
I'll post here possible right way to solve the issue.
Meanwhile i thank both for your patience attention.
