compaq presario 1210

i recently bought a compaq presario 1210 laptop from a friend(kinda old)
everything seems to be ok....it only powers up on the power
plug...battery seems dead or i need drivers.......i don't know what to
do to fix my battery....i seen that this laptop once came with a
restore cd.can someone help me out on this battery problem?the person
who sold me this didnt give me any cds for it......he bought it without
one?is there anyone who has this same laptop as me?if so plz help
me....i don't know if it requires software or driver for this battery

No drivers are needed for the battery to charge and function, so it likely
is a hardware issue, a bad battery. Replace it or just go with AC power.

Compaq (well HP) do seem to be still selling replacement batteries for
the 1210 in the UK. Cost about 84 GBP. They are not cheap, but then
nothing is around notebooks.
