Default Question Re> Compaq s4000nx

Hi I have a question regarding the power supply. My powersupply blew there
is a negative 5 wire in the harness no longer working according to the test
result. I bought a 350wat power supply just a generic one the salesman said
that sometimes the white wire included in the power supply may or may not
work with my board I am meaning the white wire in the harness of the
replacement that is not included in the original power supply.

Question as I can see all the wiring comparing the original power supply
harness to the replacement looks identical for color scheme, except for the
white wire in the new harness. If the board doesn t power up or post pulling
out the white wire to match the original is this recommended. I don t want
to if I can avoid to get an expensive compaq power supply when I can get a
Clone for 20 bucks.

Thanks
