Copy DVD sound?
I tried getting one song from a DVD I own, using Audacity. Wrong program I
guess, or didnt use it right. Resulted in badly distorted sound. Easily fixed but annoying. RealTek on board Asus, Win XP. In I/O settings, I change speaker setting from 4 to two, then back to 4. That's all it takes, but have to repeat proceedure after each bootup or end hibernate. Is there a way to reverse the damage, and to copy from DVD? TIA, -- RobF Address anti-spammed |

I appreciate your taking the time to help with this wierd problem. Guess the distortion resulted from the input level being too high. But don't know why the new level you set is not preserved. For 'Stereo Mix' not showing up, update the RealTek drivers and see if that improves. If that doesn't show 'Stereo Mix', go to Control Panel, Sound applet and check 'Stereo Mix'. Read about the problem: Mixer Toolbar Issues http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.p...Toolbar_Issues Using the Control Panel Accessing the system mixer in the Windows Control Panel and trying to select your required source there may often allow you to record into Audacity, even if the source you want isn't in the Mixer Toolbar or Audio I/O "Recording Device" dropdowns, or isn't apparently recording properly. |

Isn't Audacity supposed to do it, save a sound bite to HDD? With Asus on board RealTek sound, I should, i'd guess, be able to make a simple project work. -- RobF Address anti-spammed |
