what is the difference between a canon pgi-550 and a pgi-570 cart?
Hello
what is the physical difference between a canon pgi-550 and a pgi-570 cart? They look similar in size & appearance but the 550/551 will not work in my Canon MG7750 Any ideas please Thank you -- Martin ©¿©¬ |

Thank you Tony the 570/571 carts cost a fortune even the compatible A quick search indicates that there is a chip resetter for those cartridges so refilling yourself may be an option. It is not much fun with some cartridges but easy with others. You would need to Google the process and decide. Tony |

I did refill a few years back with the Canon ip 4200, but it burnt out the print head making me think that the inks were responsible. Back then i was able to buy a new printer cheaper than a print head!! |

I was in the computer and printer business for many years and not once did I hear of a proven case where inks caused a printhead to be damaged despite what some printer manufacturers might say. The wrong ink cannot cause it to burn out, it might cause clogging but only rarely and only if you buy poor quality inks, and having no ink in the cartridge can cause damage because the ink (in some printers) is used as a coolant for the printhead. The risks are so small as to be virtually negligible. Good luck. Tony |

Tony I have ordered re-fillable chiped cartridges & ink so I will see how it goes. 100 ml bottles shoud keep me going for a good while http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272337959609 -- Martin ©¿©¬ |

I also have the same problem I brought the 550 and 551 for my Canon and I need 570 or 571. You mentioned a way to reset the chips so the printer accepts the other cartridge? The wrong catridges fit the printer just wont accept the 550. Can you help explain? |

Place the chip of the old 570/571 cartridge on the new 550/551 cartridge, cut the 4 glue pins and they just come off. Ink level will not be shown correct but you can use the 550/551 cartrdige just fine. Greetings. |

Greetings. i tried it works but make a test before with the old cartridge because there is a glue point (in the middle of the chip) you'll have to remove very carefully if not this will break the chip I sawed the cartridge with a metal blade as fine as possible cutted the 4 pins. I removed the little plastic pin in the middle on the new one and then i used an adhesive tape to fix it |
