Desktop Board D915PBL Acceptable CPU and zones temperatures??
I have a D915PBL with a 3.4 550 processor and run a rear 120mm, side,
top, and front 80mm fans, and yet the CPU temp is 115 F, and the zones at 92 F. The Intel site said that the threshold temp is 167, but I thought that overheating would start much earlier. My P4 3.06 runs 6 fans and the cpu is at 95 F, and the zones at 82 F. I have reseated the CPU using Geil copper thermal grease and the power supply is the new 2x12 which has a 120mm fan right above the cpu. Any ideas? Are the temps ok? Thanks for your help. JAS |

o 115oF CPU temp is just 46oC - absolutely fine.
o 92oF zone temp is just 33oC - far below the 40oC "should do something" level. Check the HD temp re S.M.A.R.T. utility - should be comfortably below 50oC, since they have a much lower max op temp than a CPU - typically 52-55oC. Those temps are fine - it is a P4-3.4 and they do run relatively hot ( P4-3.06). -- Dorothy Bradbury |
