Evo D510 - Possible to upgrade power supply?
I have a D510 that comes with the standard 220W power supply. I'm
looking to put a nVidia 6800GS video card into it, but I'm a bit worried about the power requirements. I have a spare 400+ watt PS that I am not using, but it is too small and holes don't align with the case. Is it possible to use this unit on the Compaq motherboard, or did they pull a Dell and switch some of the wires so I will fry the board? If I can't find a power supply that fits this case, I would be willing to rig something up if I could be sure I won't fry everything. |

Evo D510 - Possible to upgrade power supply?
I have opened up a few compaq power supplies.
They all seem to follow the ATX color code I was selling at one time on Ebay rebuilds of the 5184 power supply It used a standard atx board although compaq had it in a different size case I was also seling just the info for the rebuild Someone who was a better prouducer caught on I have not opened your particular supply You can since you own it You can check out what type of board is inside and check the voltages vs the colors It may just be a simple swap out the board from a more powerful unit I did notice the compaq used a reliable fan They do not make any of their power supplies of course They outsource them and Mitac is or was a major source "Jesse" wrote in message oups.com...
