Dumb questions for AOpen AW850 sound card

I just purchased an AOpen AW850 sound card. I am new to sound cards.
Of course, I got what I paid for and the AW850 manual is totally
lacking in instruction in how to hook-up the hardware, (lots of
software info, but no hardware info).

My current system has an onboard sound system. I will be disabling
this onboard system and installing the AOpen PCI card.

The AW850 has connectors for inputs for CD-IN, Auxiliary, PC speaker
and what appears to be modem in and modem out.

I have a CD RW, a DVD player and external USR modem.

I assume that I don't need the modem in/out. But do I need to connect
my CD RW and DVD player directly to the Soundcard. Currently there
aren't any separate cables from the CD or DVD to the motherboard. I
assume that the sound is included in the IDE cables to the
motherboard. Will this same signal not work with a sound card? Or do
I need to purchase cables to link the CD & DVD to the card.

Finally, if I do need cables, the AW850 has a choice in input for the
CD, one for Sony and one for Panasonic. My drives are OEM and I have
having difficulty determining if mine are Sony's/Panasonic's or if
they fit one of the standards for Sony/Panasonic. Is there a way to
determine this?
