HD 5850 & 5870 Power Consumption

Idle power draw is much better than existing high-end boards, but max 3D power draw of the HD 5870 would be 56% more than an HD 4890. Looks like those 1600 SPs and 80 TMUs aren't free. :-) Compared to a GTX 285 it's more reasonable. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...m_5.html#sect0 -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means.
