Intermittent Corruption

I am having a really hard time with my Radeon 9800 OEM card in my
Gateway 901x. Apart from the fact that 2 have already have had failed
fans. I am now on the third and it is show graphics corruption. I have
Media Center and it has an animated background when in full screen
mode. Sometimes the little cloudy swirling background is corrupt and
comes across like blocks. Sometimes the screen starts to get
multicolored horizontal lines no matter what app I am using. If I drag
a window over the affected area it cleans up. But sure enough more
artifacts appear...

Any ideas?

Does the card artifact at all at stock settings when checking with ATI Tool?
Is this just a 2D problem? Have you tried newer Catalysts and tried to
replicate the problem? Is the fan functioning properly now? Case temp high?

I think I resolved this by putting a new huge heatsink and fan on the
card. I guess it was just heat...
